- open page with #vimeo video on it
- open developers tools, and "Network" tab
- search for
textt(yes, double "tt" - shortcut for texttrack) - play video, and then click on the "Transcript" button
- wait for the network request to appear, and click on it
- inside the selected request, open the "Preview" tab
- 🎉 copy the transcript from there!

Alternative Way 1 - Vimeo API
Vimeo has got public api accessible for every registered user.
The only thing that needs to be done, is to obtain API key via their Developer's portal.
Once you create your app, and get the API key, you can do requests like this one:

--header 'Authorization: Bearer <YOUR TOKEN>'
NOTE: Getting transcription with this approach works only for public videos - not for videos available with link only
Alternative Way 2 - Locally
This is the approach which works for me every time.
GitHub - yt-dlp/yt-dlp: A feature-rich command-line audio/video downloader utility can be used to download not only #yt videos, but also Vimeo videos (every video accessible via link).
And once you download it, you can use any of the variety free tools like 🎙️ MacWhisper (my fav!) to transcribe video.
(this approach basically works for any video, even if not transcriptions are originally available)
