Shift from Full-Stack to Product Engineers
The Shift to Product Engineers
I will be hated for this, but samebody has to say it:
< 2025: full-stack engineer
> 2025: product engineer
What changed?
We've been hiring devs who can build anything.
Now I need devs who question everything.
Devs who are as obsessed with user activation metrics as they are with code quality.
It's a slow, deliberate shift from an output-driven factory to an outcome-driven team.
And honestly, its hard.
